No, I’m sure they don’t. But if you hold that your belief is exclusive and then attend a church that believes all religions are simply “different paths” then you aren’t actually adhering to the belief you claim. Unitarianism has always struck me as a place for people who feel a vague need to do something religious but don’t really want to seriously consider the implications.
Interesting that the depiction of heaven in this comic is the stereotypical, imagined, Platonic heaven that isn’t actually described in any religion but is incorrectly assumed to be the “Christian” view. So I imagine true adherents to any religion would be really surprised to find themselves walking into this place.
Incidentally, all religions are exclusive. I don’t know why people in these comments keep getting on their high horse and looking down at others for believing that what they believe is the truth. That’s why you believe something, people. Atheists believe everyone else is wrong for believing in a deity. Agnostics believe everyone else is wrong for believing they can know one way or the other. Even inclusive religions exclude exclusivist religions from being correct.
You know, when you’re writing an adventure/time travel story for a syndicated comic strip (or any form of media for that matter) it’s totally cool to skip the part where the characters are packing for the trip and planning how they’ll bill their client. We can just assume that happened or — better yet — never even think about such dull, unimportant points!
The true villain of this story arc has finally appeared! I’m sure in the next strip, Doowee and Guz will freak out about the floating, disembodied right hand that appeared today in the bottom-left of panel 2!
The fact that “all solid matter is mostly empty space” isn’t a belief. It’s just scientific observation. It would still be true whether we’re an accident, created by a loving God, or plagued by alien ghosts who only famous actors are rich enough to get rid of.
Maybe it’s like Bill & Ted, and “the clock in San Dimas is always running.” ;)
