negotiation and compromise are what let Hitler take over nearly all of Europe and cost 50-70 million lives. some men take being reasonable as a sign of weakness. If France and England had acted when Hitler reoccupied the Rhineland in ‘36 it would have been a much shorter war, likewise, in ’38 when Austria was seized…or early 39 when Czechoslovakia was taken…or, for that matter, if they had actually ACTED when they declared war when Poland was attacked…the point being, sometimes it really is the only option.course, that ignores the ’treaty’ that made world war two all but inevitable, with or without Hitler, in the first place, but I’ve written more then enough already :)
actually, no, the civil war was very much about slavery, the south rewrote history after the fact to say it had nothing to do with it, but if you actually read what they said at the time it had everything to do with slavery, and very little to do with states rights…so, basically, ’you’re free to do things our way.’
I think I first saw this one in writing class actually…I hate writing, but that teacher was awesome :)
