Huh? Reagan was completely against “even handedness.” From the June 21, 1987 LA Times: "President Reagan, intensifying the debate over whether the nation’s broadcasters must present opposing views of controversial issues, has vetoed legislation to turn into law the 38-year-old “fairness doctrine,” the White House announced Saturday.

The doctrine, instituted by the Federal Communications Commission as public policy in 1949, requires the nation’s radio and television stations to “afford reasonable opportunity for the discussion of conflicting views on issues of public importance.”

“This type of content-based regulation by the federal government is, in my judgment, antagonistic to the freedom of expression guaranteed by the First Amendment,” Reagan said in his veto message. “In any other medium besides broadcasting, such federal policing of the editorial judgment of journalists would be unthinkable.”

And so Trump’s grandpa gives a boost to fake news.

P.S. I hate Trump, and I love Ruben, but the Red Scare is BS. The U.S. flushed democracy down the toilet a long time ago, any Russian connection to D.C. is about looting, not elections. Oligarchs will be oligarchs in both countries. I wish Godman could help us.

Bolling is amusing, but I come here for the cogent commentary. This is a bizarre locus for deep thinkers. To answer Linguist’s question, you brush it all under Trumps rug.

Technology changes, but the horrors of Middle School remain the same. Middle school is a good metaphor for our global predicament. Either you are crawling around on all fours trying to put scattered papers back into a 3-ring binder, you just poked a binder out from under someone’s arm in a sneaky rear attack, or you quietly watch the hallway horror, slinking away while tightening the buckle on your book strap. Surprising how few in my day realized the potential of a weaponized book strap. Although, I think Bolling has it right, Louis is the most common denizen of the middle school metaphor, his middle name is undoubtably, “Clueless,” he’s one of those “stuporstitious” types. Does Louis read God Man?

Did you notice how Ernest’s turtle neck appears and disappears? I wonder…. if the clothes make the man than the retreat and emergence of the wool knit sweater’s neck, arguably the sweater’s head, signifies the dichotomy between Hemingway’s blusterous public persona and the tormented inner man. Perhaps his affection for the garment was cry for help, a visible symbol of his slow but inevitable race toward oblivion.

A human protagonist would have communicated the message, but Charley is funnier. Would you rather laugh at an old lady slipping on a wet floor or on a banana peel? Of course tastes differ. I may be bias due to Charley’s family resemblance; put a bag on his head and he could be my brother.

As a Crea-scientist I have disproved the Secularist Homosexual 32 Degree Theory. I discovered that water freezes at MUCH LOWER temperatures as well. This is gap in their so called theory! Today I will take my ice tea into a vacuum chamber and perform more tests. Await my results!
