   Trains are slow (and often dangerous) in the US because we don’t spend any money on them.

   The bullet train in Japan goes 200+mph, and a new maglev train will be opening in 2030 that goes around 400mph (basically the speed of a plane). Oh, and since beginning operation in 1960, they’ve never have a single fatal accident.
