It’s stupid in the sense there is no proper set-up. Why would someone like a school secretary have 22 million followers on Twitter? I get it, the joke entirely relies on how outrageous the premise is. It works for Big Nate, but there is no set-up. The joke is entirely “Oh hey look! A school secretary somehow got millions of followers on Twitter”. Did she become a meme somehow?
Yeah, they’re finished. It’s obvious they’re not going to get back together. Here’s what is most likely going to happen. Nate will soon regret his hasty decision to break up with Trudy. He’s gonna try and apologize, but when he does, she’ll already have a new 7th grade boyfriend. Nate will be like “crap”, realize he messed up and then everything will eventually go back to the status quo.
You missed the point. The problem isn’t Trudy, the problem is Lincoln Peirce. He’s been doing the same joke for the last week. Maybe he needs to stop writing the 7th graders as ridiculously judgmental of 6th graders and make something happen. The same stupid gag been occurring, Nate approaches 7th graders, they make him feel uncomfortable for being in 6th grade, Nate goes away miserable. Don’t blame Trudy for Lincoln not advancing the plot.
