And for the record, octopuses aren’t ugly. They’re elegant, unique, highly-intelligent creatures.

I’m not too well-informed on the reproductive habits of “hairy bugs”, but I do know how octopuses reproduce. The male has a specially-designed tentacle that it transfers the semen to, then uses that to impregnate the female. As many female octopuses can get hostile during or after mating, the male will often tear off this reproductive appendage and throw it at the female once copulation is complete, so they have time to flee.

Fun fact: the “barrel roll” in Star Fox is actually not a barrel roll, it’s an aileron roll. A barrel roll is when you curl the craft around in a helical pattern, like it’s belly is against the inside of a barrel and rotating along that barrel wall. An aileron roll is where you rotate the craft along its central line. Later games in the franchise (such as my favorite, Star Fox: Assault) simply have it referred to as “rolling”.

This is just more proof that Calvin is quite intelligent and could do well in school if the subjects interested him.

With what money? We see that Calvin generally has a few coins to pay off the “insurance” Moe provides, but it’s certainly not enough to spend several hours at an arcade.

    Calvinball is more fun anyway.

Considering his medium is snow and this isn’t a hyperrealistic comic, it’s monochromatic – just the white snow. Anything else is caused by shadows. We don’t explicitly see any additional material in the snow – bits of gravel, dirt, sticks, and so on – which Watterson includes when it’s meant to be seen, such as after their sled crashes – so it’s safe to assume it IS intended to be monochromatic and not achromatic.

Bill Watterson has made it very clear that he doesn’t want Calvin and Hobbes adapted for any non-print media. He claims he doesn’t want to give Calvin a voice, he prefers to let people imagine it.
