THANK YOU Dave Whamond!! One of my biggest peeves is the over use of apostrophes. So many people don’t know how to pluralize nouns, and the first option of most spell checks is the possessive form. Makes my eye twitch…
I used to have a couple of pet peeve groups, but now, sadly, I have many. The one outstanding is “it’s” used as a possessive. Is it “hi’s” and “her’s”? No. Please. And don’t get me started on “went” and “gone,” used interchangeably! On the subject involving “got,” a primer I had in elementary school said, “‘Got’ is a weed in the garden of words.” Obviously, I never forgot that—and I’m now 85! I know I can be accused of being pedantic, but I do love our language,
