    I never metaphor I didn’t like.

(The Greek root meant to carry across, to transfer. I have seen pictures of Greek moving vans with the word written on the side.)

You can lead a horse to water, but that doesn’t make him a duck.

My friend’s wife was famous for her mixed metaphors. My favorite was, “Don’t just sit there like a bump on a screen door.” No clue how she came up with that one!

Learned a new word: “Catachresis”. Gaggle says there’s a subtle difference between it and a metaphor, but catachresis would be more appropriate for today’s offering :

“In Catachresis, the borrowed term is necessitated by the lack of a sufficient supply of proper terms to signal every idea or object. However, in metaphor, the substitution is merely by choice, employed for the sake of clarity and decorative enhancement.” …!

( in other words the ‘R’-Us guy is at a loss for words )
