Back in the days of mechanical teletypes as consoles on mainframe computers, one of our customers had a recurring problem with the console getting gunked up. Eventually they discovered that the night-shift operator was sleeping with his head on the console and drooling into it. (Then there were the magnetic tapes contaminated by the powdered sugar on the operators’ donuts, but that’s another story.)
