In Spanish, the spades are the “espadas” = “swords”, and it always bothered me that it looked nothing like a sword. The club is called “trébol” = “clover”, so every time I see a t-shirt that says “I (club) (whatever thing bothers that person)” I always read it first as “I clover ________”.

Shovels and puppy feet? I’m surprised he even knows what a casino is.

Twist: he’s actually a card shark who feigns ignorance to lull his opponents into complacency. Oldest move in the book.

Old style Spanish or Mexican playing cards consisted of swords espadas), clubs (actual cavemen style wooden clubs also called clubs in Spanish), cups (copas), and coins (don’t know Spanish term.) I guess over time these terms became intermingled with the English versions.

Clocks are supposed to be clean. They’re easier to read than when they’re dirty.

I’ve never seen a shovel with three teardrop shaped blades either Clover is a much better description of a “club”. Thinking about it further, the heart doesn’t look looked like any organic heart. Leaving diamonds…
