He seems a bit remote from the household problems.

Probably couldn’t fix it anyway. Just call a repair man.

Just went through that. A tiny motor that opens a fresh air vent began clicking. I barely heard it but wife said it keeps her awake. I found it did not move. Can’t buy the motor by itself but you can buy the complete fresh air vent for $180. If I had a service call, add another $200. So I had to buy the complete vent, take off the motor, crawl under the house, remove the old motor, (lose springs and screws, meet and greet spiders), and put in the new motor. Part is guaranteed for 5 years. The old part is 6 years old.

My parents’s house was built in 1926. Sold the house in 2002 and it had the original furnace. Mom and Dad only replaced the thermostat once.

My wife regularly asks, “Don’t you hear that?”

As a kid, he used to cover his ears and repeat loudly “I can’t hear you. I can’t hear you.”

For me that noise is tinnitus.

This morning the TV didn’t have any audio. It’s an adventure having Cox Cable.

The only weird noises here come from the cats exploring the bedroom closet.

If the furnace breaks down, she’s going to give him the cold shoulder

You can’t make problems go away by ignoring them. Best to get things fixed before they get worse, and probably more expensive.
