Must be the business side of Red coming through like when he delivered newspapers and had the lemonade stand last summer.
Santa doesn’t have a Rover and elves aren’t cheap.

Don’t mess with Santa, Red. It won’t turn out well. One year my sister and I were fighting more than usual, and Santa was verrry delayed at our house that year.

The sad thing is, this is before postal workers answered kids’ letters to Santa, meaning his letter – and $1 – will be thrown away. I wonder what postal workers do today when they find a bribe in a letter to Santa!

Post offices had “spy in the sky” observation structures in the ceiling; now TV cameras. Anyone pocketing the dollar would be fired at once and prosecuted later. Such money would have gone into the US treasury.
