I have three cats who used to be guys, and one who used to be a girl…you could call each one of them an “it”, I guess, without being pejorative. They’re all still wonderful, unique persons — just minus some OEM equipment. :).Pets as “persons”? Sure. They’re not human-type-people, but the idea that only a Homo sapiens can qualify as a person is a silly kind of prejudice. If you have a personality — and oh my, do they ever have personalities! :) — you’re pretty much a person by definition, and you should get love and respect for whoever and whatever you are.
