Richard's Poor Almanac by Richard Thompson for February 14, 2019
Transcript:
with apologies to percy bysshe shelley by richard thompson i met a travler from an antique land who said: two vast & pantsless legs of stone stand in the desert... near them, on the sand, half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose smirk, and puting lip, and leer of bold demand, tell that its sculptor well those passions read ...and on the pedestal these words appear: "my name is william j. clinton, president, look on my works, ye voter, and despair!" nothing beside remains. round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless & bare the lone & level sands stretch far away.
My take on it is that Bill Clinton was a guy with almost limitless potential whose effectiveness and reputation were demolished because he had a zipper problem. There’s much to admire about the guy, and much to shake your head over.
