Rip Haywire by Dan Thompson for October 26, 2016
Transcript:
Rip Haywire: I have to distract that ghostly guardian so Breezy and Cobra can get out of this nutty pyramid alive! Ghost: You... must... die. Rip Haywire: Do I get one of those feathery helmets or do they just give those out to undead security guards like you? Ghost: Die!! Rip Haywire: Hey, Skeletor! This is a new shirt! Do you have any idea how hard it is to shop for extra-strapping clothes?

I think this ghost just made his first mistake. You can’t rip Rip’s shirts and get away with it.

I guess Rip’s shirts are made from a cotton-Shatner blend.

Prepare to be unwrapped like a Christmas present, Skeletor!

Why should Rip care about cobra getting out? She’s pretty much doomed no matter what. It’s very unlikely she’ll get a fair trial. (Nobody likes her, after all.) Any cruel and unusual punishment she gets will be seen as justified, no matter how brutal is. (Think Abu Ghraib, or Guantanamo Bay) That’s one problem with Rip Haywire: it’s black and white morality. It’s so phony. Morality in real life isn’t just black and white, there’s lots of shades of gray in between. No one is truly good or truly evil, and it would be nice if that was reflected in this strip.

StoicLion: Per Shatner’s book “Star Trek Memories”, the main costume materials were “velour, which is cheap and easy to work with, and female skin, which is free and easy to look at.”
