I strongly urge Dan T to keep Rip within the limits of the preternatural. References to Rip’s “immortality” and “Divinity” introduce the supernatural into the strip, and in a blasphemous way.
It is one thing for folks in the strip to bump up against the inexplicable. It is quite another for the central character to proclaim himself Divine and immortal.
For a huge fraction of the population on the earth, only ONE individual EVER has been Divine and immortal. It wasn’t Rip. Indeed, for Rip to try and take those descriptions for himself is both ridiculous and disgusting.
