Groan.Once again we have the hackneyed point of view that the only people who rise to the rank of flag officers are ignorant, incompetent, gluttonous, cowards.
Hey Dan T! Before you mock these people any more, why not get out and talk to some of them? It’s easy to do: simply call the public affairs officer of the nearest military facility to you, explain who your are, and ask to have a meeting with a representative of the facility. You may not meet a commander, but perhaps you will meet an officer, or even an enlisted soldier who can convince you that their are intelligent people in the military.
Indeed, the military in the U.S.A. is kind of snooty and selective these days. Not because it chose to be that way, but because the majority of the kids “graduating” from high school do not meet basic military standards for education, physical fitness, or both.
Mark you, these were the same standards that allowed the troops into the military that you feel free to mock. Now, the majority of high school graduates can’t even meet that grade.
Every flag officer I have met was impressive, some of them were among the smartest people I’ve ever met in my life. Why not get out of your comfort zone and go meet a few of them yourself?
