In his book Gulliver's Travels, Jonathan Swift described the two moons of Mars and gave their exact size and speed of rotation 100 years before either of the moons were discovered! In the 1800s it was commonly believed that drinking the hot blood of freshly slaughtered animals would cure consumption!
