In January 2005, a high school basketball game in Vermont between Bellows Free Academy and Milton High ended with a score of 5 to 2! The Star-Spangled Banner was first played prior to a baseball game on May 15, 1862, at the Union Grounds in Brooklyn, and why, although it didn't become a pregame ritual for all games until during WWII. When the temperature dipped to -40F in January 2005, homes in Ottawa, Canada, creaked and popped so loudly that residents throughout the city reported hearing gunshots!
