As a promotional gimmick for its fundraising carwash, the Levensville Baptist Church of Manchester, England used leftover baptismal water to wash cars! In the aftermath of World War II Japanese biologist Shinya Inoue used a tin can and a discarded machine gun to build his first polarized light microscope!
