In May 2009, Jim Denevan and his associates spent 15 days carving a 3-mile-wide, intricate mathematical design into the sand of the black rock desert in Nevada, USA. Most of the light we see from the sun was first created in its core tens of thousands of years ago! The light is absorbed and randomly re-emitted by atoms on a long winding path to the surface. To promote religious unity, Iraq's government offers money to Sunni muslims and Shiite muslims to marry each other!
