Snake antivenom is commonly produced by injecting horses with snake venom, then collecting the appropriate antibodies from their blood! Gill Smeathers of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England, received a package in February 2010 that was postmarked Nov. 4, 1982! European explorers had been making frequent trips to the Americas for nearly a decade before Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci made his first voyage to the new world- which was eventually named the 'Americas' in his honor!
