There are no natural lakes in Maryland. Alpine skier Yohan Goncalves Goutt became the first person to represent Timor-Leste at the Winter Olympics 2014- a country whose Tetum language has no word for skier or skiing! Dino discrepancy! Why was the movie Jurassic Park unrealistic? T Rex and Triceratops did not live in the Jurassic era, they evolved tens of millions of years later in the Cretaceous period.

Why am I not surprised about the Maryland no-lake thing?

Bruno is correct it is a gimmicky name for the park. i believe in the novels whenever they introduce a dinosaur they’ll say when it lived. if anything jurassic park is incorrect in its depiction of velociraptors which are roughly 3 feet tall. the deinonychus more closely fits the dinosaurs in the movie or the then recently discovered utah raptor.

Copied from my comment on “Foxtrot Classics” from yesterday: And overlooking the timeline difference – The Stegosaurus has been reported to have appeared 156 million years ago, while the T-Rex appeared 67 million years ago! Just so you get an idea; the difference in time between when Tyrannosaurus Rex and Stegosaurus lived is greater than the difference in time between Tyrannosaurus Rex and now!

Has everybody forgotten that Jurassic Park was a scientific experiment? They discovered how to grow these things from DNA encased in amber. That’s what’s unrealistic, but it’s showbiz. What fun is a realistic adventure movie>? Jaws would have been nothing if not for the giant shark that liked to eat boats as well as people. However, the movie was factual enough that everybody who worked on it wound up being afraid to go into the water.

Relax, people. The Park wasn’t all that. The movie was fantasy.

There’s another sequel to Jurassic Park, called Jurassic World coming out next year; in this one, the park is open for business and tourists are flocking to the place.

I don’t think we have any natural lakes here in Georgia. Ours are Georgia power or government hydroelectric generating plants.

I think what they’re saying about the movie, is not that the dinosaurs were created from DNA, but that the SOURCE of the DNA, would not have existed with the OTHER dinosaurs at the time. The source for the DNA for the dinosaurs in the movie, would have to come from TWO totally different sources (because of the very large REAL time difference), but in the movie, they all came from the SAME source.

Nobody said not realistic means BAD….Cartoons and comics aren’t realistic and we like them. It’s just funny that this strip implies that the era was the ONLY thing unrealistic about a movie that to me was a feature length live-action cartoon.

Spielberg wanted that smooth ripple in the water cup to warn of the T-Rex, but the only way he could get that image was to hook up a bass guitar and amp under the car. Not to mention that you only hear the thing stomping around when it helps the tension. Somehow they hear it stomping around for minutes before they see it the first time, but at the end it manages to sneak up multiple velociraptors to inadvertently save the humans from being eaten. ?!

Once the Doogie Howser Threshold of acceptability has been exceeded, one must stop protesting the corollaries which have been rung.

I still say that a 10 ton T-Rex cannot run 30mph.(“Must go faster..Must go faster.”)(Objects in mirror are closer then they appear)
