I’ll bet the lightbulb thing is related to CFC bulbs. When they first came out, the EPA recommended that if you broke one in the carpet to replace the carpet. They are not to be thrown in the trash or landfills. There is a long list of caveats. It’s because of the amount of mercury in them. Yeah, I know, I played with the stuff as a kid, too.
