Cameron Falls in Alberta, Canada, turns pink after heavy rain falls! The models used for Grant Wood's American Gothic were actually the painter's sister and dentist! Thousands of tiny Pelagic red crabs carpeted the beaches of Orange County, California, in May 2016- a phenomenon that hadn't been seen in the area for decades!

So what’s in that Canadian provincial water that makes it pink?

Wood’s sister was only 31; the dentist in his sixties. She always maintained that it was supposed to be a father and daughter, and resented it being described as a husband and wife.
Wood himself changed his story many times…at first it was a gibe, though with some affection, at the Midwestern pretentiousness of putting big Gothic windows or other ornate European decoration on tiny frame houses.
Later he styled himself the quintessential Midwestern painter, and disavowed any satirical intent.

How would you convince someone to paint a picture of them if the point is to get an “older” person?
