Worthy cause! Davis Family Adoption Sale Nine-year-old Tristan Jacobson raised over $7000 at a lemonade stand. Using it to pay for his own adoption. 96-year-old Henry Heimlich who developed the Heimlich maneuver, used it on himself in an emergency situation- for the very first time in May 2016! Freddy the Brazilian tortoise received a custom 3-D printed shell after losing 85 percent of her real one in a forest fire.
I wonder about adoption fees. I was adopted in 1944 by my stepfather when he married my Mother. They just went to the courthouse one day and had it done. The fee must have been quite low because Mother was working at the base laundry and my Stepdad was in the Army and only had a Sergeants pay.I know that fees have been waived or substantially reduced nowadays in hardship cases. There are adoption days in courts where the lawyers waive all fees for families of limited means.
