In 1969, Georges Perec published La Disparition, a 300 page novel written without the letter E! What city holds the second most Christian relics? Only the Vatican has more relics than Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, St. Anthony's Chapel. While gardening in Bad Munstereifel, Germany, a man found the wedding ring he lost three years prior wedged onto a carrot he picked!

So the author must not have put his name on the manuscript, or else the this is just a lie.

YOU ARX A KXY PXRSON (You Are a Key Person) was a paper handed out at Harris/Gates in the 1970s re how important each employee was. ie using a typewriter with the E key missing.

I knew there was an E-less novel, but I didn’t know it was French. Too bad it must make for lousy translations.

Gobin56 probably meant Gadsby (written back in the 30s).
By the way, La Disparition was translated into English (as A Void) and the translator followed the ‘no E’ rule. Incidentally, all three of those writers have the letter E in their name.
And no, writing long lipograms is not easy!

Oh, and I love the irony of putting the tidbit about St. Anthony’s chapel right next to the one about a man who found his long-lost missing ring. For those who are unfamiliar, St. Anthony de Padua is the patron saint of lost articles.
