There was one of those “internet facts” that once said the top two American Baseball team total salaries (Red Sox and Yankees were the listed teams) totaled more than the rest. I thought that would be a fun fact to list here but I actually googled the statistics and it’s not even close. For the 2016 season, it’s really the top 12 are slightly more than the bottom 17. The discrepancy between the Dodgers ($223M) and Astros ($69M) is over $154M, or you can say the Dodgers are essentially 2.23 times more than the Astros.
However it is possible that going back far enough, that “fact” could have been true at one point. But I’m not going to spend the time or research on this one anymore…
