This palindrome was featured in Steve Berry’s book, The Malta Exchange. Weirdly, I just finished it yesterday.

Ancient folks built great things. They didn’t have internet or movies to waste their time on.

True story or not, I don’t know, but the claim is…

Pepsi-Cola, when first introduced in China, attempted to translate their ad slogan from English, Come Alive! You’re in the Pepsi Generation!

Supposedly when the ad campaign was launched, the Chinese said Pepsi Brings Your Ancestors Back from the Dead!

But it is the case that the Chevy Nova had to change its name to be marketed in Mexico. Nova as “no va” didn’t work.

The other day they realized it was from 1979 a.d.

Take care, may hard working hay baler Butch O’dord be with you, and gesundheit.

More than a “burial mound” Newgrange was also a sacred monument and calendar surrounded by megalithic Celtic art. At dawn on winter solstice, the rising sun would illuminate the entry hallway and inner chamber. I was lucky to be one of the last tourists to walk the inner chamber before it was closed to the public.

You should never eat chicken with your fingers. Your fingers should be eaten separately.

The Sator Square must be the equivalent of ‘For a Good Time Call XXXXX’.

The Sator Square was the Roman world’s most popular Christmas gift until the Julius Caesar Chia pet came out.

The slogan led to an increase in sautéed bat wings.

Newgrange was abandoned when funeral processions kept dropping coffins downhill.

I deleted my comment and therefor deleted the weird comments from the others in that thread. (For the record, all I said was that the KFC translation was funny.) I feel so powerful, lol.

Another marketing dud from way long ago: Chevy trying to sell the Chevy Nova in Mexico, where Nova means, more or less, ‘it doesn’t go’.

In preparing to host the Olympics, organizers had native speakers of languages check the translations. The checker found one restaurant had an English menu with “Pee Soup.”

One time I saw a sign in the bathroom of KFC that said, “Employees must lick fingers before returning to work.”

May the lard be with you.

How does anybody know when exactly the Great Pyramid was built? An age was estimated, but then revised as much earlier because one of the walls had a configuration of stars, and when astronomers backtracked the motion of the actual stars in the sky to match the positions in the picture, they came up with a number thousands of years older.

A lot of things are lost in the translation.
