With how the economy is doing, that might of been a good financial decision.

Wrong-Oh! Lady Liberty’s waistline is more like 110 feet, as the diameter of her trunk at the waist averages around 35 feet. One would need to reference original design specs to know the exact waistline measurement.

If the statue was built today, she’d have a 44 foot waistline and complain that airplane seats are too small

For a 35 foot waist line, Libby’s looking might svelte.

Back in 1978, my ex was one of the volunteer tour guides at the Statue of Liberty. Her favorite piece of useless trivia was about the statue’s waistline, with the added detail “If Lady Liberty was a 5’2” tall woman her waist would measure 19-1/2 inches".

So, Oregon is dammed if they do, but not if they don’t?

How can her waistline be measured under her metal (copper?) toga and dress?

Next “they” will tell us her bust size, “She wears a 4,842 B cup.”

Oregon will need to change it’s flag because the beaver is the official emblem of Canada.

It’s too bad Ralph’s Tavern wasn’t successful in its bid to get on the monopoly board. Don’t rush down there with your Monopoly money now, they are no longer accepting it. It was for a fund raiser for a sick patron.

The beaver: An overgrown rodent with a nasty temper and a completely unwarranted reputation for hard work. Perfect symbol for the Canadian government! – (CJCL)

I grew up mostly in Oregon and didn’t know about that distinction, though I knew what was on the flag. But I can well believe it. Oregon has many peculiarities. (I was one of them.)

I plan to redesign every state’s flag in my spare time. Because from a vexillology perspective, most of them suck.

The Statue of Liberty was damaged by a terrorist attack in 1916, called the “Black Tom” attack, a reference to the Black Tom rail yard where explosives were detonated. 4 persons were killed, and tourist access to the torch was restricted.
