The town of Santa Claus, Indiana has most of its streets named with Christmas and winter themes. For example, Tinsel Circle, Madonna Drive, Candy Cane Lane, Poinsettia Drive, and many more.
We never had silver tinsel, but I remember the old stuff made of lead that would fall off the tree and short out the Lionel trains. When we took down the tree we always tried to get the tinsel off to use next year.
I’ve been to Holiday World, though it has been at least a decade. They have a campground, and you can rent RV’s (which we did) or cabins. They have a water park too, it was all really quite nice, much more family friendly than the mouse park in my opinion.

A few years ago, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift.
The next year, I didn’t buy her anything.
When she asked me why, I replied, “Because you still haven’t used the one I bought you last year!”
And that’s how the fight started.

Whatever you celebrate, here’s hoping you spend it among those you care about, and stay warm and well-fed within Winter’s chill grasp.
…One time it was 1947.

Just remember the stuff about decorating when your wife asks you to finally take down the outside lights…in July.

Dad peeling a banana…
When I was six or so my dad started this routine every time he ate a banana…
Dad, peeling the first strip of the banana peel…
“One skin”
Peels the second strip…
“Two skin”
“Three skin”
“Five skin”
I asked him, “What happened to the Four skin?”
Dad answered, “It’s a Jewish banana.”
Still not getting it . . .
