How is that annoyance even left on?

I agree, but I also disagree. There are some excellent dry foods out there. Yes, they have some “filler”, but they also have chicken and fish and some vitamins that cats need. We split a can among three cats every day, and keep the dry food bowl full. All three are thriving.

My cats won’t eat canned food. However they do like to munch a mouse or bird from time to time.

it is really getting annoying at just how little these cartoonists really know about cats. obvious dog people.

Processed meat is also stuff cats would never eat in their natural state. Feral cats get their “vegetables” from eating the vital organs of their prey. They also eat grass if they need a little roughage. Life expectancy of Feral cats – up to 8 years.*The vegetables in the dry chow do serve a purpose. And, dry food is much better for the cat’s teeth. Canned chow is good for a treat, and is better for cats that are prone to urinary tract infections. Life expectancy of house-cats fed on “un-natural” processed meats and dry food is 13 – 25 years. I’ve never had a cat that died younger than 15.

I’ve been feeding my guys dry for years. They haven’t died yet. Canned food is given in sm amounts as a treat.

Cats lust after those things advertised on TV the same way kids do.

I check the ingredients, look at the analysis (protein and fat are usually just as good as canned or even better), and use two or three different brands just in case some minor element is missing from one. I read that eating dry food doesn’t help keep teeth clean any more than eating peanuts keeps humans’ teeth clean. This by a woman (forget her name) who worked for Purina. She was big on looking at the analysis.

As long as the cats stay away from my bird feeders and preferably at their own homes I don’t care WHAT they eat! I am tired of chasing them away from my garden because I love BIRDS – not cats wondering around here!

When did this strip become “The Adventures of Peekaboo”? Rose may be Rose, but she’s no better than second fiddle in her own strip.

Wait, “stuff cats would never eat in their natural state – corn, wheat, soy, rice, oats”? My cat, Bridgette, LOVES yellow corn (she will sneak it straight off the table) and will eat white rice without complaint either. We have to watch carefully and clean up the dishes quickly or she will climb up and have herself a feast. She won’t eat ham, however.
