Geez Rose, you sound like me with my pre-schoolers. Are you going to put her in time out next?

Seems a cat often chooses the least comfortable place to rest her weary fur. I’m often surprised to find them sleeping on the floor or counter top rather than a comfortable sofa or bed.

We had one (female tabby) who wanted the cushiest, plushest nap spots in the house – and another (male tuxedo) who liked the bare, cool, hard nap spots.

Wait until tonight when the cat doesn’t come back inside. She’ll be out all night looking for the cat. The cat sneaked back in and is asleep on the counter.

Our three cats (Maine Coon, Siamese, and Formerly Feral Street cat) have all preferred our waterbed in winter, and the front porch or garden in summer. At least we only had them one at a time, or we’d never have gotten any sleep. As it was, the Maine Coon liked to claim the middle of the bed, then s p r a w l… And if there wasn’t room for his minions, that was okay with him!

We had a cat who liked to sit on the table. I’d pick him up and place him on the nice comfy couch. A few minutes later, I’d turn around and there he was perched back on the table-smiling broadly at me.

We have a cat who likes to sleep in the shower. He comes running out when you go into the bathroom. I think he must be afraid someone is going to turn the shower on him.

Mine like different places. This one here likes both hard and soft surfaces. She expects everyone to work around her if she’s sleeping. Since she’s deaf, it’s not that hard to do.

Favorite places for my Tortoiseshell: Laundry basket (dirty or clean clothes, does not matter); My side of bed; Dry tub; Bottom shelf of night stand (after she clears out the books I have stacked under there); Carpeted area in front of sunny window. If she is mad at me, it is: Under the bed; Behind the toilet; Under the dishwasher; Computer desk chair (with all nails dug into the seat so she is immovable).

I do my best mulling on the kitchen counter too – mulled wine, mulled cider……¯(°_o)/¯

My cat prefers her bed or mine. As far as the counters go, as long as mice manage to get up there, she’s more than welcome to jump up there to get rid of them. Haven’t had any mice for years because of her patrolling.
