Sadly, you can’t rescue all the worms that come out after a rain. I can understand why they come out of their flooded holes, but why do they then wiggle far onto driveways and into parking lots? Driving along rural roads, I ran over thousands and thousands of them coming from the grassy shoulders, and hated it. And you know, it wouldn’t be so bad if robins would feast on them so that it served a purpose. But the birds don’t usually get the concept of worms available for food that way.

Those birds are red and that suggests they’re Cardinals. I don’t think Cardinals eat worms, or at least I’ve never seen any of them here in NC eat them.

Here in Florida, those worms would end up as “Worm Jerky” if they didn’t get off that sidewalk pretty quick..It’s amazing how fast they seem to dry out in the hot sun on Hot concrete world of Florida sidewalks..

It’s difficult to be sure.The street I live on only has sidewalks in front of about a Third of the houses..My best bet: When the city installed the sidewalks, the Homeowners had to pay at least Part of the cost and if they didn’t cough up the money, they didn’t get any concrete poured..
