Pair SHARES. Pair is singular and takes a singular verb, no matter how many items one may thing “pair” refers to. I wish somebody would explain to Caligula-to-be that “media” is a plural word and takes a plural verb. So his favorite phrase “the media IS lying” makes him sound really stupid.
