As #1 gets safely across #2 will stop on the centerline and #3 will head back the way they came. ( My experience on US#23 in Algoma County, Michigan!)

This could be a lead on for juicy breasts and drumsticks, plus some really great buffalo wings.

Leisurely strutting indeed! After I stopped for them, one decided to charge the car. As I had the top down, I beat a hasty retreat in reverse.

We had a yardful of turkeys every winter morning when we were in Maine. I’d go out and feed them. But I have to say, I’ve never seen multiple males together. Generally it’s all ladies or ladies and a male they let hang around :)

Them turkeys can RUN if they have to; and they run almost as fast as they fly! For a big bird, they are VERY aerobatic!

Around here it’s Sandhill Cranes. They’re quite big and rather fearless.

I once saw a herd of turkeys post road guards—2 walked out into the road and faced oncoming traffic in each lane while the others passed between them.
