Interesting choice of characters, since the rats were transported around on ships from human settlement to human settlement and the rats were the carriers of fleas which spread from rat to rat and then to humans and the fleas bit the rats and humans and the virus was transmitted through the flea saliva into rat and human blood and thence back and forth to fleas and rats and meanwhile the virus killed the mammal species a while after the viral infection. Almost as complicated as the computer virus, eh? But the rats take the blame…or in this case, the credit….
