Wait a sec... Information can't go faster than the speed of light. That means I can determine the distance to God just by praying and waiting for a response? Dear Lord, what is the meaning of life? Here lies Steve Jones Died a minimum of 40 light-years from his maker

Keeping him on the line long enough to trace the call when the answer does come is going to be the hard part.

My father didn’t use physical punishment on me because he knew that stupidity was its own punishment. Here’s more proof he was right.

God: “D*mn party lines. Thing’s been busy for the last 50 years. Look, dude, if you get this, the meaning of life is – don’t depend on other people to give you all the answers all the time.”

Surrounded by mechanisms… wondering if there is a machine, and if the machinist might occasionally reach into it while it is running. Decided it shouldn’t ever happen and kept all fingers and both hands.

Should we consider time dilation? Whose 40 years are we looking at?

“Minimum of 40 light years”? Totally wrong. That assumes that both his prayer and the response, if any, travel at the speed of light. He doesn’t appear to have gathered any evidence to support such assumptions..What if prayer only travels at the speed of sound in air? Then that “40 light years” would really be only about 24 light minutes, or about 1/3 the distance between the orbits of Earth and Saturn..Of course, if God is not located on or in the Earth or its atmosphere and if prayer travels as sound (is this why many people pray out loud?), then the prayers would never reach Him, since sound cannot travel in a vacuum.
