For most older manufacturing companies, the greatest asset is information in the form of drawings for replacement parts and customer sales data. People can be replaced, for sure. Brick and mortar facilities can be closed down in one place, be acquired in another. A crafty person high in management could download valuable information in a few days. So much depends on business ethics; and social ethics if those still exist in business.
