Uncertainty breeds belief.

Sorry, not true. “Scientific” education does not preclude belief in a higher power unless faith education is excluded.

Doesn’t preclude; that’s why the curve never reaches zero. But it is true that many previously mysterious phenomena were chalked up to the magic of a god or gods before scientists formulated alternative explanations, and that has been enough to decrease faith overall.

Both in 1960 & 2000 a poll was taken about belief. In both cases it was 60/40 percent. 60% no, 40$ yes among scientists. I have not seen a break down of fields. I am guessing that those in Astronomy would be more likely too, biology likely not in relation of deities or deity.

I find all my computational needs can be fulfilled by squares and cubes. I don’t believe in higher powers.

I’ve been in a very happy place since I simply replaced “higher power” with “probability that much older civilizations exist in the universe and invisibly guide the evolution of young species, occasionally manifesting themselves to nudge our cultural development in guises that match prevailing mythologies.” Unfortunately, I needed several more sheets of paper for my y-axis.
