Reminds me of my own sign language abilities. A healthcare volunteer taught my mentally handicapped nephew some sign language, then he taught it to my sister, then my sister taught it to me, then I accidentally insulted the partial-hearing girl working at Tim Horton’s because I didn’t know what I was signing.
It had never occurred to me that there would be swear words in sign languages, but of course there are! Or that nuns volunteering in the health care field would have such filthy mouths — er, okay, not mouths exactly. Fingers? No that sounds even wronger. Language! Filthy language.
