I’ve always tried to never leave a movie early if it was really bad, but I had to once or twice… Something about needing to get my money’s worth and all that.
I’ve walked out of a few rock’n’roll bars, where the band was doing thump-your-chest bass, even though the honeys were delightful-looking.
Already had hearing loss from rifle ranges and flight lines, didn’t need any more!
There were some 3D movies in the ’50s that were the righteous Polaroid technique (not the headache red/blue glasses), but they overused the trick; spears right at you, horses running over you, etc… Much like the first Word with many fonts, that some users just had to use them all!
More recent 3D fare, if a fairly good story to begin with, has been much more restrained. Used carefully, it brings something to the party.
Now last year’s *UP made a wonderful 25th anniversary movie for us, and How To Train Your Dragon was another fine story, a coming-of-age adventure with good values for its characters, and splendid visuals. Toy Story 3, while I tend to avoid anything -2 or -3, actually made a good windup to the story arc. We approved.

“escapist,” back door, ok, I get it.

Escapism is somewhat different. If it was that bad though, why did it take him 20 minutes to sneak out the back door? Couldn’t find it in the dark?

Had to wait for the guard to fall asleep.

Out-standing movie.

It was probably a screening of that yet-to-be-released Mel Gibson movie!

For me, it was The Last Airbender!

I’ve walked out on several movies. The bad production values/bad plot/bad photography are not enough to make me try to get my money’s worth. Blech!

The trend is for 3-D— scripts three times dumber than anyone could imagine would actually be filmed and released.

It took him 20 minutes to escape because there was a lineup at the exit!

I love DVDs. Push eject button, put it in the red envelope, and read a book.

The second I started reading today’s strip
the movie “Cloverdale” came to mind..LOL…
When a movie starts making you nauseous because
of hand held camera work….it’s time to book out the door.

The best part of the movie was the ending. Unfortunately, it didn’t come soon enough.
