What a relief it is to live in a country with universal health care and not to have to worry about how to pay for health care. All I have to do is show my card (with a chip in it) from my health insurance provider and the rest is taken care of. The only things I need to pay extra are for elective procedures (very reasonable) and a 5 Euro co-pay for some prescription medications (altogether, not individually if I need more than 1 medication).Oh, and I do have choices. I can choose between any of several hundred health insurance providers for the mandated coverage or even a private health insurance provider. I can choose based on which provider offers the types of services and coverage that best suits my needs. All of it is top quality. I wish the US would finally realise that this is a much better system than what is there right now.My monthly insurance premiums have an upper limit and are based on my income. The less someone earns, the less they have to pay. And the upper limit is less than 700 Euro (ca. $ 770) a month.Does it matter which country I live in? Let’s just say that every developed country in the world, except the US, has such a system.
