I would hate to be…..curious in Chicago.

An editor that writes such a poorly written question. So typical of modern newspapers where the basics of good writing and ethics were never learned in school.

The last person I opened car doors for was my mother. I haven’t driven anyone since.

Such as cars are needed by the Treetop Tattler.

Opening a door for a lady is old fashioned, out of date, and sexist. And I always do it, because she is a lady and I and a gentleman and we have been married for 41 years.Enjoy being a “Boomer”.

Call me an old fogey ( many do! ) but I was brought up to open and close doors for ladies, hold the chair while they are seating themselves, walk ahead of them on a going down the stairs and behind them going up, helping them on with their coats or jackets, and a myriad of other things that were considered, in my day, being polite.

Yes, but, do gentlemen still prefer blondes?

Wrong. True gentlemen wait for a lady to open the door for them. And wait. And wait…

I only do it when on a date — and my last date was 45 years ago.

The spouse and I open doors for each other if one has their hands full. When it comes to cars – all I want is the door to be unlocked when I try and open it. No need to waste time coming around and opening a door for me.

Of course, how else do you steal it in Chicago.

The only plausible answer. Back in the day, car doors were enormously heavy, cars were higher off the ground and a small woman could dislocate a shoulder or crush her leg opening or closing the door wrong. (I exaggerate only slightly.)

When I open the door for someone I often say " That’s my good deed for the year, I’m done "
