In 1964 my 8 year old brother and me, at 7, were riding in the front seat of 1958 Ford. My mom, who was driving, took a left turn over a small dip and then up a small hill when the passenger door flew open and my brother tumbled out. She didn’t notice until I yelled and she saw the door open and my brother gone. She slams on the brakes and retrieves my brother, who was fine, and we go on our way. I think my mother was more frazzled than she let on, but my brother and I told that story for years to come ar family get togethers.

I’d love to have a Desoto with a Firedome.

Rented a “rent-a-wreck” in Alaska. Called after landing at the airport. Was told where it was parked and that the keys were under the floor mat. It was old, beat up but it ran……. Drove it all over Juneau for a week.

Just be sure that whatever the seat-belts are bolted to, hasn’t rust through.

We installed seatbelts in our 1962 van. Got run off the road by a semi the next summer, rolled a couple times, totaled the van. No injuries.

Hits too close to home, once had an old car that had a door that sometimes didn’t close fully. Turned a corner (slowly) and my daughter fell out. She hit the ground running and wasn’t hurt at all. She checked it twice from then on.
