this reminded me of a line from an old western: Lee Marvin’s character was accused of being an ‘illegitimate child’ (fill in the actual b-word) and he replied " In my case it was an accident of birth, you, sir, are a self made man"

There were pieces left over, important looking stuff.

I’m self taught on a number of things. Which is unfortunate, as I can’t demand a refund for my tuition.

Reminds me of Danny Kaye in “The Court Jester”. Explaining how he became a jester he told how he studied and practiced and eventually, “I made a fool of myself.”
