I’ve had a couple in my life. The last one died back in 1998. We went to quite an expense trying to get her well but she died one morning in my mother’s arms. As time has passed I think she may have been well older than she supposedly was.
My first cat was black. My very superstitious mother was rather upset until she noticed he had a tiny spot of white, I mean really tiny, on his belly. She wanted me to name him Mr. Lucky. I chose Tiki. I have had a number of black cats, all of whom were great cats. I got one at Zayre’s right after I got married. I named him Sam Spade. Someone gave me a solid black kitten, who I named the Maltese Falcon. Apparently, she was a not ready to leave her mother. She started “nursing on Sam.” He took it in stride, and would lay on his side, just like a mother cat, but he would stare at me at me with a rather confused look as though to say, “why me.” When she was a bit older, Sam got her, another a tortoiseshell, Patches, that had joined the brood, quite pregnant. Sam was a very proud papa. He helped take care of both litters, and Maltese and Patches helped each other out. And Sinbad, a stray tabby who had joined the family, was like a proud uncle. They were a loving group. I would love to have a black kitten to join the two I have, but I think my land lord would not be happy.
I love black cats. They are the sweetest and most loving of cats. I think there is no such thing as a pure black cat. They all have at least some white even if it’s a few white hairs in their fur.
My first cat was black. I’ve had several outside ones also. Boot is Tuxedo as was Q-Tip, plus a few other outside cats. Never brought me any bad luck. When they wanted to schedule my husband heart surgery on Friday the 13th (2004) asked if it bothered me- how could I when I had a black cat. In case anyone is wondering- we live in Central Florida & the hospital is in Orlando. That was the day Hurricane Charley hit.
I’ve been owned by many black cats over the years, as well as a succession of big black dogs; Akiro is the current mini-panther in residence, but the current dog is a biscuit-colored mutt of unknown antecedents.
My late, great Freya was a black cat with Siamese in her (paw and head shape, voice, purr-sonality). We have a black pocket panther (Wakanda forever!) named Achilles. He’s good with cats, smart, and a love sponge.
My tuxie boy (not spoiled at all, LOL) rode in the engine of my car for nearly 12 hours and about 100 miles. He wasn’t hurt, and just moved in with us. When he comes out of a dark room, all you see are 4 little white feet until the cat appears when he gets into the light.
In 1995 we rescued Charlie a B&W cat from the streets of our Overland Park KS home. Took Charlie along with our other 2 cats & Wheaton Terrier in our 1984 240 Volvo SW to our new home in far NW Tucson Cataline Village in 1996. We now have Shelly, we adopted from a shelter in 2009. She has been my little angel disguised as a cat who also slept in bed with me. This short video was taken 6 years ago when shelly would get up next to my drawing table & skrooch around on a soft lavender towel talking to me.
I’ve had many black cats over the years. I currently only have one. He is such a sweetheart. When putting down his bowls at meal times, he pats my hand in appreciation. What a generous tip for being his loving servant.
I have a Little Black Cat (well she’s a tuxedo cat) but she’s still a Little Black Cat – All elegant and graceful and always dressed to the 9s. :) I think all cat coat colors and patterns are great! My house cats are ready for Halloween – I have a Black and White tuxie girl and a Red/Orange and White tuxie boy.
Our first black cat was Phred. She packed more personality into that little 6 lb body than any other cat I’ve known (mom of 11 over the years). She was also her daddy’s baby girl and soul cat. She’d meet him at the door everytime he came home and if he didn’t immediately pick her up, she’d climb him like a tree. Been 20 years since we said goodbye and still miss her terribly.

If they curl up together, they would look like the “Yin and Yang” symbol!

Not a real black cat – spot of white on neck. Purrfectly harmless.

I think the only real problem, which has given black cats a bad name, is tripping over them in the dark.

Thanks to all these kind people who adopted from a shelter. I’ve heard that shelters have few takers for the black-furred.

Christina Aguilera: Beautiful
Every day is so wonderful
But sometimes people don’t understand
Now and then they get insecure
From appearances,
It’s what it is.
…….
I am beautiful and I have love to give
Purrs can make someone’s day
I am beautiful, that’s how I’m gonna live
Yes, purrs can make your day
So smile and pet me now today!
…….
To all my friends I am gonna show
I’ll, bring a smile, for all the while
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
Some people feel, but joy is real
Is that the way it is?
…….
You are beautiful, that’s what I’m gonna show
Words can’t bring you down, oh no
You are beautiful, though you may not know
Yes, words can’t bring you down, oh no
So let me lift your spirit today!
