He forgot to take into account (or more likely, he hasn’t realized yet) that the cat is smarter than he is. Everyone learns this lesson eventually. If you’re lucky, you learn it from someone else’s mistakes.

The cat isn’t smart at all. Unless the cat weighs too much that fence is easily climbed…
