I just finished “The Death of Expertise” by Tom Nichols. He addresses this in informative, easy to read prose. One of the better books I’ve read this year.
This would be funny, if it weren’t for the fact that so many doctors refuse to listen more to their patients. Too many times, they simply assume that you’re wrong, simply because they had to go to college for 8 years to end up in their office, and you didn’t.
