Before the Quarantine… I bought some reusable/washable metal straws. At the time… I thought I would use them only occasionally. Silly me! Now I can drink AND wear a mask at the same time!
I have been learning to speak Spanish here in Puerto Rico. My hearing sucks, they have masks on, and I can’t read their lips. The conversations usually breakdown into half English and half Spanish. They often say their English is poor, and I tell them my Spanish is poor. The communication usually works out, with a lot of laughs along the way.
I wear hearing aids because of years of jet engine noise. They work and work well. But seem to work much better if I can see the person’s lips when they talk.

I have moderately bad hearing. Masks do make it slightly harder to hear, but honestly, not as bad as this.

I think I recognize those names on those cups.

I don’t care how they say my name; I know they’re going to spell it wrong, anyway. Just get my coffee right. Dark roast, black, nothing in it.

Get one of those number dispensers that deli counters have.

This reminds me of the jokes about trying to understand the speakers at fast food drive thru’s.

I’m a lip reader and to me they aren’t saying anything of importance. I really didn’t want the coffee, anyway

If the mask gives you that much trouble, you’re doing something wrong.

If a person has any kind speech peculiarity, the mask makes it very difficult to understand what the person is saying!
